About Us

Left to Wander

This website is about Jesus.  The idea for this website was born because of a need I see within the church.  Sometimes people become Christians and are baptized but then left to wander unguided or worse…misguided.  Both conditions are indefensible for the church.

It isn’t much better for many veteran church patrons.  They spend Monday through Saturday and half of Sunday living like everyone else in the world…unaware of the truth.  Why?  The answer is that they attend church but still do not know God’s word.  They lack the relational, daily devotion that is the Christian life.  They believe in Jesus, but don’t truly know Him.  A while back I heard a teaching and something stood out.  The speaker said, “you know, it doesn’t really matter how many times you claim to know someone.  What matters is if they know you.”  This apply’s to us.  This apply’s to you.  Jesus said that many who call his name will be cast out from His presence on the day of judgment.  He will say to them, “I never knew you”.  I don’t want that to be me and I certainly don’t want that to be you.

How to Truly Know Jesus?

"And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked."

Sanctification of the Mind

As Christians, we must sanctify our minds to honor God. To be sanctified means to be set apart as holy. It is the aim of this site to be a resource where believers or people curious about faith in Jesus Christ can come to learn about the word of God and how to live in a way that honors Him. Join us as we walk in faith, by the grace of God, diligently seeking His word, searching the scriptures to learn what God has to say.

Let us reason together with our minds. Through our senses we perceive the natural world and with our mind we can reason that God exists. Paul tells us that God has made himself known to all people, everywhere. “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20)

Thought is the genesis of action. It is the things we listen to with our ears, read or watch with our eyes that shape our thoughts. The things that we think upon most will ultimately determine our actions. Our world is filled with ideas and images that work to corrupt our minds which can easily cause us to think and live in ways that are displeasing to the Lord. We are called to be different…radically different in our thinking and in our actions.

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:13-16, ESV)

Paul, who was called by Jesus Christ, tells us to present ourselves as living sacrifices as our form of worship. But it is how we do this that matters most. First, it is only by the grace and mercy of God that we hear the truth. Second, it is put into action by renewing our mind. Here is what he said:

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” 1 Corinthians 14:20, ESV

The process of renewing the mind is what the name of this site is all about. We need to reshape our thinking by meditating on God’s word and then practicing what it says.  “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.  What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” (Phil 4:8) If we diligently seek him and pray for his guidance he will sanctify our minds and help us turn from our wicked ways and his grace will cleanse us from our sin and grant us everlasting life.

May the grace and peace of the Lord be with you in your journey.
